Marine and coastal assets fail in patterns: chloride-driven corrosion of structural steel, spalling of concrete, scour around piling, joint failure in revetment, salt-spray damage to timber and accelerated erosion of unprotected shorelines. Patterns are only visible if you look — and traditional inspection methods don't look often enough.

Drone inspection makes repeat capture more practical. Where a rope-access inspection might be commissioned every few years, a drone-based visual capture can often be run more frequently — and produces comparable, geo-located imagery that supports an asset-management programme.
